Northeast Ohio’s successful entrepreneurs and executives are one of the region’s richest resources. By participating in JumpStart's mentoring program, supported by Burton D. Morgan Foundation, these seasoned veterans share their knowledge, experience and expertise to guide the next generation of tech entrepreneurs.
JumpStart’s mentoring program was created in partnership with MIT’s world-class Venture Mentoring Service. Based on innovative, entrepreneur-focused lessons developed at MIT, the program is specifically tailored for a fast-paced, fiercely competitive, global startup environment. Companies entering the program receive anywhere from one to four mentors, depending on their needs. This team approach provides critical experience for companies who expect to form and effectively manage boards of directors in the future.
The mentoring program was introduced to expand support and increase our ability to improve entrepreneurial outcomes in the region. The connections made and lessons learned through the program are focused on accelerating Northeast Ohio’s early stage startups and improving their access to networking and capital. Accordingly, the types of companies suitable for the program include those who are high tech and high growth, with large-market opportunity; these can range from pre-revenue to businesses already generating cash flow.
Our growing network of mentors comes from a broad range of business and healthcare backgrounds, from founders and presidents of Fortune 500 companies to venture capitalists and leaders of nationally celebrated tech startups. These volunteers are giving back to the region and having a significant impact on business outcomes by working with high potential companies in emerging technologies and markets.
