Jay is the President of Goyal Industries, a metal manufacturing firm based in Mansfield, Ohio. Previously, Jay served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2007-2013 and as the majority whip from 2009-2011. During his time in the house, Jay was the primary co-sponsor for the renewal of Ohio’s Third Frontier program and also introduced and enacted into law House Bill 140 which allows public universities to take equity in startups. For his legislative efforts, TIME Magazine named Jay one of the “Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in American Politics.”
Additionally, Jay spent a year as a Harvard Business School Leadership Fellow at a venture philanthropy fund based in Menlo Park, California, the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation. Jay has also spent time at the General Motors Corporation, the National Cooperative Business Association, HealthTap – a digital health startup based in Palo Alto, California, and SineWave Ventures – a government focused venture capital fund based in Washington DC.
Previously, Jay has served on the board for the Richland County United Way, the North Central State College Foundation, Catalyst Life Services, and the University and College Access Network of Richland County.
Jay has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and an M.P.P. from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
