Jay Freund has spent the majority of his career in the financial transaction sector, primarily focusing on principal investing in private equity, mezzanine debt, and limited partnership commitments.
Jay currently serves as Managing Director of Stratford-Cambridge Group, a private equity firm focused on control investments in the lower middle market. Specifically, the company targets industrial growth opportunities, including niche manufacturing, engineered products, industrial services and value-added distribution businesses. Jay’s responsibilities are focused on the origination, closing and monitoring of the organization’s portfolio companies.
Previously, Jay served as a Partner for Canal Holdings, LLC, an organization that focuses its strategy on junior capital investments in smaller companies within the lower middle-market. His primary responsibilities in this role included helping lead efforts in originating, evaluating, closing and managing portfolio company investments.
Prior to joining Canal, Jay had been associated with many prominent firms in the investment banking and private equity sectors. In addition, he has a wide variety of investment and financial experience among many types of companies, including manufacturing, value-added distribution, and business/industrial services.
Jay is active on the boards of nonprofit organizations in the Northeast Ohio region, particularly groups that look to improve the lives of individuals in the community.
He received a BSBA in Economics from Ohio Northern University and his MBA from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.
