Congratulations to the four finalists for our 2021 Stark Community Challenge.
The Stark Community Challenge is a six-month, technology-based initiative showcasing homegrown innovation and talent. Each entrepreneur created, or expanded upon, a tech-based solution to a Stark County-based regional challenge in one of four categories: community health, quality places, access to funding, and sports/esports.
On September 22nd, each finalist will pitch their innovative idea to the public and earn a share of the $20,000 grant to be used toward validating their solution or enhancing their startup.
The finalists are…
James Fye – Stark Flavor
Category: Quality Places
Jimmy is partnering with Stark Flavor to create a digital platform that will assist both non-profit and community-based organizations to grow their support systems and donor bases. His vision is to create a community calendar that can be used to promote events and missions to individuals interested in volunteering or providing financial donations.
Jen Carroll & Annalisa Hilliard – Mortgage Mate
Category: Access to Funding
Jen and Annalisa are creating a digital solution to help future housemates connect, plan a pathway to shared homeownership, and enhance their interpersonal experience. Their mission is to create home-ownership opportunities for those who traditionally would not qualify on their own.
Jeanette Nelson – Gossamer Marketing Group
Category: Community Health
Jeanette will develop a portal-based app to deliver dynamic online courses to patients and healthcare providers. These courses will educate users about the emerging and under-utilized healthcare technology designed to improve health interoperability and patient outcomes.
Bob Lung – Big Guy Fantasy Sports
Bob is expanding on his work to make Stark County a destination for fantasy sports enthusiasts. The Fantasy Football Expo is an annual event that brings together fantasy football players, experts, sponsors and exhibitors for strategy, advice and fun.
To learn more about these exciting innovations, register to attend the Stark Community Challenge Showcase on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Watch the finalists present their solutions and discuss how they plan to spend their $5,000 award.
