JumpStart Employee Spotlight: Allison Zupan

JumpStart Senior Administrative Assistant Allison Zupan spends her time working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership staff to ensure administrative needs are met, managing Board of Director relations and assisting the Development department in report writing and donor correspondence.

Recently, we sat down with Allison to ask her five questions about her life and work at JumpStart:

What is a career lesson you have learned this far?
To roll with the punches.

What has been the most rewarding part about working at JumpStart?
Besides Mr. Larry O’Brien visiting? I love being front row to all the great things that JumpStart is doing in and for the community. Seeing our team, entrepreneurs and office space on TV and in print is awesome. I love showing off our work and the great people leading that work to my social networks, friends and family.

What is something you have always wanted to try but never have done?
Skydiving, which is funny because I’m not a risk-taker. Maybe that’s why I’m so interested in trying it—to push myself out of my comfort zone.

What is your favorite movie?
This is a tough one. I’m going to choose two—one comedy and one drama. The Jerk is a movie that I first watched in one of those moods where everything in the movie made me laugh hysterically—to the point of crying. To this day, my mom and I quote lines back and forth from the movie. “One dollar…and NINE CENTS!”

As for the drama, Dead Poets Society is an all-time classic and my favorite Robin Williams movie.

Which JumpStart value resonates most with you and why?
Collaborative, because teamwork makes the dream work! I thrive in a team environment, and enjoy working with others to achieve a common goal. I believe that listening to others’ thoughts and openly discussing everyone’s ideas is what leads to success.
