Five Questions With Sharia Livingston of Living Rich

Living Rich apparel is a unisex, high-quality streetwear brand that prides itself on high-end quality and affordable prices, highlighting the idea that value is determined by self—not a price tag.

How did you get your idea or concept for your business?

The idea behind Living Rich literally came from a combination of my daughter and I’s love for fashion and our life experiences. Us wanting to deliver a positive message through fashion. The name coincidentally was a combination of our last names Livingston & Richardson.

What motivated you to apply for the Impact Program?

My desire to always want to learn and grow more as a professional, entrepreneur, and overall leader. I have a saying I live by; “If you’re not learning, you’re not growing”. I believe that, and I saw an opportunity to learn more and grow. Not to mention the opportunity to do this with other entrepreneurs and learn from each other.

What is something that you learned during your time in the Impact Program that made a difference in your business right away?

Breaking down who my audience is. Instead of thinking about it and expressing it numerically, I learned to think about it as a type of person and pursue them. I immediately switched gears. Although I know my market from a numerical standpoint, I now market from a personality standpoint, and that has helped me.

What was the most challenging concept that you learned?

How to manage my finances better! That piece was much more difficult than I thought but I was so glad I did it and learned so much in the process.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

If you believe in it, go for it! Learn from everything. Even the things that don’t go your way, find the lesson in it and use that for your next move. Things won’t always go as planned but stay positive, persistent, and look for progress… not perfection.
