Five Questions with Frechic Burton, Jason Garrett and Kamron Khan of CoCreative

CoCreative is a branding and marketing agency specializing in serving nonprofits and government entities. The agency offers brand strategy/identity, photography and social media management services as well as hourly rental space in its Downtown Cleveland office for meetings, events and offsite work.

What separates CoCreative from the competition?

CoCreative has the unique ability to specifically target a demographic nonprofits and government agencies are attempting to target with their branding and marketing material. We create a diverse stock image collection that represents people of all ages, colors and demographics. With those images, we create social campaigns that will target and reach a demographic nonprofits and government agencies are attempting to reach.

How did you first learn about JumpStart and the Core City: Cleveland Impact Program?

We are subscribed to JumpStart’s email list. We received an email saying the applications were extended and since we had missed the initial deadline, we took it as an opportunity to jump right in and submit an application because we really wanted to be a part of this newest cohort.

What has been your biggest takeaway from the Core City: Cleveland Impact Program?

We started our business as creative entrepreneurs, but we weren’t necessarily complete business owners. Having the opportunity to really learn about the core of having, running and selling your business has been essential to what will be our success.

What advice would you offer other entrepreneurs who need help and are considering reaching out?

I would tell people that they should take this as an opportunity to grow their business. A lot of times entrepreneurs can feel intimidated by programs like this. It’s a long process, but the rewards are great. Entrepreneurs sometimes think they’re behind or they aren’t where they should be and this really helps you get on solid ground so you can grow a profitable business.

What are your future plans for your business?

Creating the infrastructure to be able to grow and scale our business on an entirely new level. We’ve been doing pretty well the past year and we’ve been getting clients and creating campaigns for them, but we haven’t really spent that much time on our own advertising and marketing efforts. This program has given us an opportunity to be able to do that. So, by 2020 we’ll have a really good base to be able to jump into a really great direction for scaling, for growth, for hiring new employees to be able to really effectively change our community through the nonprofit and government agency space.
