Five Questions With Diane Linston of Cleveland Cut & Sew

As one of the only African American, female-owned clothing manufacturers, Cleveland Cut & Sew specializes in quality fabrics and unique clothing designs. Styles of Imagination was established in 2015 by fashion designer, Diane Linston and serves as the flagship brand for all of Diane’s collections.

 

How did you know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

When I graduated from college, I knew I was ready to start my own business.

 

What is something that you learned during your time in the Impact Program that made a difference in your business right away?

How to put together your marketing strategy and how to set goals for my business based on that marketing strategy. Also, I learned how to forecast my sales and stay on target with them. 

 

How was it working with other local business owners in your cohort?

I enjoyed how we learned from each other and were able to give great feedback to one another.

 

Where do you see your business 5 years from now? 10 years from now? 

I hope to have a fully functional and operating manufacturing business. Within ten years, I hope to then sell my business and retire.
