Northeast Ohio Medical University will launch a health care leadership speaker series titled “VITALS: Visionary Health Leadership in Action.” The monthly series will feature a diverse range of innovative leaders in the medical sector. The first event will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 via Zoom Video Webinar.
Each speaker will have 17 minutes ― the same length of time of the average physician-patient visit — to offer disruptive solutions to health care’s biggest problems. Approaches may cover any of the six components of VITALS: Value-based, Innovation, Technology, Advocacy, Leadership and Service. The speaker will then engage in discourse with attendees for the remainder of the hour.
Speakers will range from regional University partners — public, private and health care systems — to national peers, alumni and thought leaders — including the series’ first speaker William H. Considine, M.S., CEO Emeritus of Akron Children’s Hospital.
Considine will lead the first conversation via Zoom Video Webinar, Thursday, Oct. 1 from 5 to 6 p.m. WKYC-TV’s senior health correspondent, Monica Robins, will moderate audience questions.
“The VITALS speaker series was designed to enliven the discourse, scholarship and actions surrounding health care transformation by showcasing the wisdom and experience of innovative leaders in the medical sector,” said Steven Schmidt, Ph.D., vice president for research and dean of the College of Graduate Studies. “We want thought leaders to engage health care professionals to bring positive change to health outcomes now.”
Continuing education credits will be available through Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) through the sponsorship of Northeast Ohio Medical University.
