As the public, private, and nonprofit sectors continue to blend, it is critical for future business leaders to learn from the successes and limitations of policy tools intended to generate both financial and social returns. Join current MBA student Katie Van Dusen in a conversation with Aaron Seybert of the Kresge Foundation and Bradford Davy, Director of Regional Engagement at the Fund for Our Economic Future and of Opportunity Cle, on May 18 at 1 p.m. ET about what important lessons can be learned four years after Opportunity Zones were first introduced.

The Kresge Foundation is a private, national foundation that works to expand opportunities in America’s cities through grantmaking and social investing in arts, culture, education, environment, health, human services and community development.

Opportunity Cle is an initiative for Opportunity Zone investment in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County.

“An Opportunity Zone is an economically-distressed community where new investments, under certain conditions, may be eligible for preferential tax treatment. Localities qualify as Opportunity Zones if they have been nominated for that designation by the state and that nomination has been certified by the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury via his delegation of authority to the Internal Revenue Service.” (Source: opportunitycle.com)

The Fund for Our Economic Future is a funding alliance made up of more than 40 organizations and individuals dedicated to advancing economic growth with equitable access to opportunity for the people of Northeast Ohio — an approach they call Growth & Opportunity.

To achieve Growth & Opportunity, the Fund promotes and supports integrated strategies to improve job creation, job preparation and job access. They do this through research and awareness building, collaboration building in local communities, and grantmaking. They work across the 18 counties of Northeast Ohio, in and around the metropolitan areas of Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Youngstown.

We will also be broadcasting this roundtable and future roundtables to LinkedIn Live on CWRU Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship’s LinkedIn page on May 18.
