Echogen Power Systems

Echogen Power Systems, Inc. is commercializing waste heat to power with a proprietary system.

The company's breakthrough power generation cycle called the Thermafficient® Waste Heat Recovery Engine uses a modified Rankine Cycle with supercritical carbon dioxide (ScCO2) as the working fluid to recover thermal energy from a wide variety of sources and then transform it into useable power and heat.

The unique properties of ScCO2 as a working fluid differentiate the Echogen technology in cost, footprint and performance. ScCO2 is environmentally benign, non-toxic and has favorable heat and mass transport properties, which allow for an energy dense, compact thermodynamic system.

Initial JumpStart Investment: August 2007
