I just noticed that the promotional price to register for the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds' annual conference (in Oklahoma City, OK, September 14 - 16) has been extended through the end of the month. While having a reduced price is a common tactic for increasing early registrations, and I see it with many conferences these days, I'm guessing that perhaps the early registration numbers aren't as high as the folks these were hoping. Nothing like this is surprising given the economy these days, but (at the risk of seeming like all I blog about is conferences), I wanted to make sure you knew some of the features of the NASVF conference that particularly caught my eye:
- Rebecca Bagley will be moderating two panels at the conference. A great opportunity to meet the newest leader and member of our fabulous Northeast Ohio entrepreneurial, technology ecosystem!
- JumpStart's Ray Leach and Darrin Redus are both panelists at the conference. For those of us in Northeast Ohio, we are lucky to be able to meet with them one-on-one; but their dynamic thoughts shared with others on a panel will be one-of-a-kind.
- For entrepreneurs, there's a session called "Encouraging Entrepreneurs in Today's Economy". A great topic, featuring one of the leaders in the Ohio Department of Development, Lisa Delp. Other topics that should be particularly helpful for entrepreneurs include "From Research to Startup when Funding is Tight" and "Where are the Angel Opportunities"?
- For investors, I was particularly interested in the session "Institutions Investing in Today's Capital Market: How and Why..." and "Hot Investment Markets and Sizzling Sectors".
- Keynote speaker still to be announced. Intriguing, and sure to be worth the wait!
And don't forget, the
promotional price is extended through July 31 (the end of this week).
