Why JumpStart

Regional Projects

Transforming EconomiesJumpStart is a seasoned nonprofit venture development organization committed to strengthening the economy through entrepreneurship. We've seen the difference targeted intervention for entrepreneurial businesses—those fast-growing, competitive companies with the most potential to attract capital and create good-paying jobs—has made in Northeast Ohio and regions across the country. We partner with company founders and committed community leadership to implement solutions that accelerate entrepreneurial successes for measurable impact.

JumpStart Regional ProjectsOur work supporting ecosystems outside of Ohio was initially funded by a public, private and philanthropic partnership among the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Surdna Foundation, and the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration. These supporters recognized that the entrepreneurial transformation occurring in Northeast Ohio was needed more broadly across other distressed regions of the Upper Midwest and supported JumpStart to work with other communities. Since that time, our work has expanded to other regions.
