Braintree Business Development Center is pleased to announce three Tech Sprout grant awards. The awards range from $2,000 to $6,000, and are designed to help Northeast Ohio entrepreneurs develop prototypes or purchase inventory for market entry. The three recipient companies are bringing new technology to industries including healthcare accessories, computer design, and construction processes. Grantees include two firms locating in the Braintree incubator in downtown Mansfield – Rapid Forms and LapKeyBoard, as well as RKN Inc. from Euclid.
“We are quite pleased with the mix of industries and ideas represented in this initial round of applications,” commented Barrett Thomas, who coordinates the application process. “Each business is on the verge of getting real traction with their customers and generating the initial revenue that will make them more attractive for future funding, encourage other collaborations, and of course give them the opportunity to become profitable.”
Braintree’s Tech Sprout grant targets startup companies with innovative ideas that have commercialization potential. Applications for the next funding round are due May 11, 2012 and interested applicants can view the program’s requirements at www.braintreepartners.org.
