Recently members of the Obama administration have been circling the country reassuring different constituencies about the economic stimulus and that this is only just the beginning.
Post all of the recent commitments made via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act entrepreneurs are wondering "is that all the U.S. government is going to do to help the segment of our economy that creates the most jobs?"
Last week, Tresury Secretary Tim Geithner answered this question in a speech he made to Congress where he told members that stimulus funds for entrepreneurs are on the way, with a Consumer and Business Lending Initiative and increased federal backing of SBA loans forthcoming.
If this is true, this should be great news for small business. Having said this, small business also needs to have Congress reauthorize the SBIR program which promotes research and the kind of disruptive innovations our country needs to also create brand new types of jobs focused on growing and emerging industries including bioscience and energy-related opportunities.
