Sales continues to play a critical role for most businesses; however, many of these businesses are struggling to recruit new salespeople and it’s having a real impact on their bottom line. According to The Wall Street Journal, employers spent an average of 41 days trying to fill technical sales jobs in 2014, compared with an average of 33 days for other positions. So, why is it so hard to fill sales jobs these days?

There is a very real, yet often unspoken, phenomenon that prevents many entrepreneurs from realizing their dreams – overcoming their fear of asking for the business. I’m often fascinated by how easy it is for many entrepreneurs to sell their ideas and concepts when they are in the early stages of plan development, yet when it comes time to sit down with a potential client and move the business from concept to reality they are reluctant or unable to seize the opportunity.
