Recently, I read a great book, "Thunderstruck," by Erik Larson. The friend who referred it to me told me that it was a great murder mystery that takes place at the turn of the 20th Century. The story follows two characters Hawley Crippen and Guglielmo Marconi and how their lives collide.

How the Small Business Jobs Act Affects Entrepreneurs

Signed into law on September 27 2010, the Act includes $12 billion in tax breaks for small businesses and a $30 billion Small Business Lending Fund. Although the passage of this bill will not single-handedly bring the country's current 9.6% unemployment rate back down to more normal levels or create the eight million jobs that were lost between the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2010, the aid package represents a milestone for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

What Could Be More Fun Than a Trip to the Circus?

The Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus is coming to Cleveland October 20-25. That fact struck me funny because JumpStart's Annual Community Meeting is now only days away and, in some ways, it feels like we are preparing for a three-ring circus. Not meaning that it's going to be crazy, frenetic, and carnival-like, but more that it's an event that needs to be timed precisely, entertaining, and of course, innovative.
