John Dearborn
Chief Development Officer
John brings 25 years experience in software, Internet and mobile technologies, along with senior management experience leading entrepreneurial companies to JumpStart. Most recently, John was the CEO and a board member of 3Guppies, Inc., a mobile social networking company in Seattle, Washington. Since returning to Cleveland, John has been acting as board adviser to several startups in the areas of strategy development, fundraising and product development. Prior to 3Guppies, John was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for New Ventures in the Interactive Division for American Greetings, where he was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. In that role, he led new product and business development activities, partnering with leading companies, including MSN, to develop content offerings aimed specifically at the mobile and instant messaging audiences. John also started a self-funded company that developed the first image editor for the PC, which was later sold to a NASDAQ-traded company, Micrografx. In addition, John has held senior management positions for a variety of venture-backed, public and privately-held companies, leading marketing, operations, business development, and sales organizations. Michael R. Morgenstern
Director of Development Services

Mike joins JumpStart with exceptional experience in strategic development, research, and multi-project management for non-profits in Northeast Ohio. As Director of Development Services, Mike directs and provides advancement support for JumpStart’s innovative public/private partnerships. This incorporates all services critical to donor relations, including strategic planning, grant identification and process compliance reporting, due diligence and stewardship communication, and principal gift management. Mike comes to JumpStart from Oberlin College, where he was Director of Development Research and Senior Research Analyst. Mike is likewise well-experienced with Northeast Ohio’s business and cultural communities. He’s served as Research Administrator at the Western Reserve Historical Society, Associate Editor at Gray & Co., Publishers, and prior to that was Assistant Editor with the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History project. Mike has a BA in History from Purdue University, and an MA in Social Policy History from CWRU. He is a past board member of the Ohio Prospect Research Network (OPRN), and is a member of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA).
Rachel Madewell
Director of Grant Administration

Rachel joins JumpStart’s Development Team from Case Western Reserve University, where she was Assistant Director within Corporate Relations. Rachel was responsible for the implementation of the Case Industry Partners Program to generate unrestricted dollars, as well as the maintenance of the program’s portfolio of affiliated technical companies. She also oversaw stewardship, marketing and web development efforts for the Office of Corporate Relations. Prior to that, Rachel served as a Business Analyst within the University’s Advancement Services, working as a trainer and liaison between fundraising and technical staff. In her JumpStart role, she will be focusing on grant administration and streamlining development systems. Rachel received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Cleveland State University.
Katie Stupansky
Development Coordinator

Katie Stupansky brings several years of finance, sales and recruiting experience to JumpStart Inc. Most recently Katie was a recruiter with The Carmon Group in Independence, OH, where, she placed mid-executive level employees within the manufacturing and medical device industries nationwide. Previously, she worked on the trade floor at KeyBank in Cleveland, OH as a Sales Assistant and in operational roles. Katie graduated from Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and Journalism.
